New Beginnings & Burnt Biscuits

Published on 10 July 2025 at 19:35

Well, y'all, we've been stirrin' the pot in more ways than one lately.

Life behind the bayou has been busy: we've moved, there's a new four-legged princess in the house, and I've been elbow-deep in flour, code, and kitten fur trying to refresh this little corner of the internet. If you've been wondering where I've been, the short answer is... somewhere between unpacking boxes and trying not to cry over a fried router and a forgotten casserole.

We Moved!

That's right, we packed up and found ourselves a new home. It's not too far, but far enough that every room has become a new adventure (and by adventure, I mean "where did I put the slow cooker again?"). The kitchen's still finding its rhythm, but the oven works, and the coffee brews strong, and that's all I really need to get started.

Meet Cleo!

Let me introduce Cleopatra (Cleo) yes ma'am, she earned every bit of that name. Cleo is our newest baby: a sassy, tailless little queen who's made it her business to run the house like she pays the bills. She's a former outdoor kitten, now fully living the indoor high life, and she's taken a particular liking to my bed, my recipe notes, and knocking things off my bedside desk just to make sure I'm still paying attention.

And in case you're wondering, my husband, who "didn't like cats", is officially wrapped around her tiny paw and now refers to her as his "tiny princess."

Site Refresh & Freebies in the works

With everything going on, I knew it was time to dust off this blog, fluff up the pillows, and give Bayou Bites & Booze the refresh it deserves. You'll notice a new look, easier navigation, and more flavor-packed content coming soon.

And yes, I'm working on new freebies just for y'all! More recipes, kitchen cheat sheets, and maybe something special for the hosts and hostesses out there. It's my way of saying thank you for pulling up a chair and sticking with me through the quiet spells.

Before You Go

Life's been a little chaotic lately, but somehow, the kitchen always finds its way back to the heart of it all. Whether you're here for the recipes, the stories, or just to peek in on the mess, I'm glad you're here.

"Here's to sticky counters, full hearts, and stories that spill over like gumbo"

Until next time,

Alicia
